{"id":6798,"date":"2024-06-10T13:56:42","date_gmt":"2024-06-10T11:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/avocatrabat.com\/?p=6798"},"modified":"2024-06-10T13:56:42","modified_gmt":"2024-06-10T11:56:42","slug":"registration-of-a-birth-abroad-on-the-moroccan-civil-register","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/avocatrabat.com\/en\/registration-of-a-birth-abroad-on-the-moroccan-civil-register\/","title":{"rendered":"Registration of a birth abroad on the Moroccan civil register"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many people born abroad to Moroccan parents discover in adulthood that their birth (abroad) is not recorded in Moroccan civil status registers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Moroccan consular services will not be able to grant these people administrative documents such as a Moroccan national identity card, passport or even a birth certificate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Other, more serious consequences may arise: in the event of inheritance, heirs acting in bad faith may draw up a deed of inheritance without mentioning heirs born abroad and not registered in the Moroccan civil register. The estate may then be divided up illegally.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is therefore important for Moroccans born abroad to register their birth (if their parents have not already done so).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is a legal procedure that requires the following documents (as well as others in certain cases):<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A full copy of the applicant's birth certificate;<\/li>\n<li>A copy of the applicant's national identity card;<\/li>\n<li>Full copy of mother's birth certificate ;<\/li>\n<li>A copy of the mother's national identity card;<\/li>\n<li>The applicant's certificate of Moroccan nationality if only the mother (and not the father) has Moroccan nationality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many people born abroad to Moroccan parent(s) discover when they reach adulthood that their birth (abroad) is not recorded in Moroccan civil status registers.
